RECONDITIONED VS. SECOND HAND ENGINES
Why you must buy reconditioned and not second hand!
Cheaper can end up more expensive in the long run. Don’t take the risk with second hand, you will never know exactly what you are buying.
GUARANTEE
Reconditioned units come with a proper written guarantee valid for a minimum of 3 months.
Most secondhand units only have a start-up guarantee.
MILEAGE
Recon units have ZERO mileage. All wearing parts are replaced with brand new parts, and machine-able components are taken back to spec with correct tolerances.
Mileages on second hand units are often unknown or not accurate. There is no way of determining the way this engine was treated in the past. How hard was it driven? How often was it serviced if ever?
ORIGINALITY
Maintain the originality of your vehicle by having an engine with a locally recognized engine number fitted. Second hand engines are often imports and they seldom have the same spec as the original engine in your vehicle. Foreign engines and engine numbers can also negatively affect the resale value of your vehicle.
So think twice before buying “Cheaper” second hand!
